Dr. (Christenson) Epley is an honors graduate of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She earned her doctorate of optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude (top 5 in her class).
She received clinical and didactic awards all four years, including the Excellence in Ocular Disease Award, and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa optometric honors fraternity. She currently belongs to the House of Delegates for the Iowa Optometric Association, is a member of the American Optometric Association, and provides no-cost InfantSEE exams for infants between 6-12 months of age.
Dr. Epley offers a wide range of services, including routine eye exams for adults and children, contact lens evaluations, glaucoma exams and testing, LASIK and cataract evaluations and post-operative care, diabetic exams, and emergency eye care.
Dr. Epley enjoys being involved with the Council Bluffs community. She is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Council Bluffs and has served on the Southwest Iowa Advisory Committee for Heartland Family Service. Currently, she is an ambassador for Pottawattamie Arts, Culture and Entertainment and the youth program director for the Council Bluffs Optimist Club and is always looking for more opportunities to serve. She and her husband Cole live in Council Bluffs with their two cats and enjoy being outdoors (especially biking), seeing live concerts, completing home improvement projects, and cheering on the Huskers!
Dr. Dayna Hazlewood grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming and received her undergraduate education from the University of Wyoming with a bachelors in Physiology and minor in Neuroscience. She earned her doctorate of Optometry at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon.
Dr. Hazlewood has focused on service by working as an ambassador for Pacific University and volunteering in events such as the Special Olympics and local eye care clinics to the underserved community. In addition, Dr. Hazlewood has served on an eye care mission trip to Jamaica. Her training provided her with a broad range of experience as she interned with honors within the Portland VA Medical System, a surgical co-management site, a private practice and the United States Navy Medical Center.
Dr. Hazlewood is devoted to providing quality eye care for adults and their children in a fun and friendly environment. Dr. Hazlewood provides comprehensive eye examinations, including contact lens evaluations. She has a special interest in dry eye, emergency eye care, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic exams and LASIK and cataract evaluations. In addition, Dr. Hazlewood is one of the first in Nebraska to provide neurolens® technology to treat and manage headaches, tired eyes, neck/back stiffness, and digital eye strain.
Dr. Hazlewood is a member of the American Optometric Association, Nebraska Optometric Association and College of Vision and Development and provides no cost InfantSEE exams to infants between the ages of 6-12 months.
Although a Wyoming native, Dr. Hazlewood has chosen Nebraska to be her home. She is actively involved in the Papillion Area Lion's Club and Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce, with the goal of promoting the community’s quality of life through enhanced vision. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Justin, and their energetic cattle dog, Freckles. Dr. Hazlewood enjoys anything outdoors, traveling, live concerts, and football.
Dr. Kate Holthaus graduated from Duchesne Academy and later earned her Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Nebraska Omaha.
Dr. Kate Holthaus is an Omaha native who is devoted to providing exceptional eye care to her hometown. Dr. Holthaus earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree from the Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She was awarded the Certificate of Clinical Excellence upon graduation and earned Most Outstanding Student Award in 2017. Dr. Holthaus was an active member of the Beta Sigma Kamma optometric honors fraternity, Cornea and Contact Lens Society, American Optometric Student Association, and Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity. She completed an optometric mission trip to Roatan Honduras in 2018 and continues to give back to the community by being involved with the Millard Lions Club and Nebraska Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity. She is an active member of the American and Nebraska Optometric Associations and provides no-cost InfantSEE exams for infants between 6-12 months of age.

She has a particular interest in the treatment and management of dry eye disease and specialty contact lenses.
Dr. Holthaus absolutely loves the Omaha community and enjoys exploring everything the city has to offer. She consistently looks for ways to serve the community and give back to her hometown. She and her husband, Dr. Jared Holthaus, enjoy everything outdoors and cheering on the Creighton Bluejays!
Dr. Jared Holthaus earned his Doctorate of Optometry degree from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where he graduated among the top of his class.
Dr. Jared Holthaus grew up in Wichita, Kansas and graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Biology from Kansas State University where he earned Cum Laude honors.
He was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society at NSU while being an active volunteer with Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity. He is currently a member of the American Optometric Association and the Nebraska Optometric Association advocating for better access to care to residents of surrounding areas.
Dr. Holthaus served the Cherokee Nation before joining Vision Specialists gaining expertise in glaucoma, diabetes and macular degeneration. He has worked for the Muskogee, Oklahoma Veterans Affairs drawing inspiration to continually help geriatric patients. Dr. Holthaus offers a variety of comprehensive eye examinations for adults and children including, but not limited to, glaucoma testing, contact lens fitting, cataract pre/post-operative care and emergency care.
Dr. Holthaus is new to the Omaha area and is eager to become involved with community work and is an active member of the Greater Omaha Chamber. He has been to Honduras for a mission trip and is an active member of Volunteering Optometric Services for Humanity international. Dr. Holthaus lives with his wife Dr. Kate in West Omaha. They both enjoy being outdoors, traveling and staying fit. He is excited to build professional, life-long relationships with all his patients.
Dr. Lexye Bruegman earned her B.S. from Concordia University in Seward, NE, and her Doctor of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. She served as president of the Cornea and Contact Lens Society, was a member of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, and earned the Clinical Excellence Award, Excellence in Contact Lenses Award, and Philips E. Trust Award.
Originally from Lincoln, NE, Dr. Bruegman prioritizes taking the time to listen to her patients’ concerns and making them feel comfortable with her as their doctor. To her, patients aren’t just a number, but a human being with needs and concerns, and she does her best to make sure each patient feel valued. Dr. Bruegman especially loves working with children and utilizing advanced technology to give her patients the most precise results possible.
Dr. Bruegman lives in Gretna, NE, with her husband and daughter. She enjoys spending her free time outdoors, especially playing volleyball, and attending Nebraska Huskers games and country music concerts.
Dr. Katie West graduated with her Bachelor of Science from Nebraska Wesleyan University and earned her Doctor of Optometry from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry. In 2018, she was one of just three fourth-year optometry students to receive the NSUOCO Award of Clinical Excellence.
Dr. West served her residency in ocular disease and low vision rehabilitation at Kansas City VA Medical Center. During that time, she learned the importance of patient education, and ever since has taken the time to ensure each patient truly understands their eye health, options, and treatment plan. Dr. West loves to get to know each of her patients personally so she can take care of their unique needs.
Originally a Nebraska native, Dr. West recently relocated to Omaha. She enjoys running and strength training, as well as being active in her church. She taught herself calligraphy in optometry school and is currently re-learning Spanish to help improve her communication with Spanish-speaking patients.
